"They're only human!" (the most common defence of the Governing Body)

Moses made a mistake when not giving credit to where it was due after striking a stone which then produced water. Although he was punished, he still remained as the chosen mediator and the one to lead the Israelites to the promised land. Still those that went against him were divinely punished for their insubordination. It's similar to our Governing Body as they're imperfect and will make mistakes, however it would be wise for us not to question their direction. To question them would indicate a haughty attitude which is obviously a symptom of spiritual malaise which could very well lead to spiritual death. May that never happen.

Man, I've been working like a slave all day and this thread took off. Should I even bother lol? I left off at page 2 I think. I started to log in and post during a conference call that was a complete waste of my time. This thread wasn't hijacked, was it? Guess I'll have to read through all these pages.

Raven, I'll have to get back to you tomorrow as a favorite show of mine is coming on. Please bump this thread in case I forget. I may come back on at 11 or so depending on how sleepy I get. Thanks for the heads up on our atheist friend. No wonder he's confused.

Ok, thank you Raven. Now let me ask you, can you point it out anywhere in our literature where it specifically states that Jehovah's Witnesses do not benefit from God's kingdom. Matter fact, let me put it to you this way. Let's say I'm going to the Ravens game as I've got tickets. Not necessarily box seats, or close to the field, but I'll still be at the game. I'm not a player, not a scout, not the GM. I'll just be some Joe Schmoe in attendance. However, would you deny my presence at the game?

Yes, you're right, those ones will be the ones to enter God's Kingdom. However, notice in those verses the type of people Jesus was speaking about whom would seek to enter God's Kingdom and would be denied. Those that would prophesy, those that would expel demons, those that would perform powerful works. In other words he was talking about those that would take upon themselves the responsibility of taking the lead. These ones had a significant responsibility to live up to, hence the need to be sure of the more important things as you mentioned earlier.-Phil 1:10, but also take into consideration John 21:15-17. I'm still waiting for you to explain to me the differences in our beliefs. Remember, you asked me to participate on this thread, I'll be treated like a guest.
edit post: confused, stop it please.

Unstop: i notice that jw supporters like to come on here and discuss small things that make them feel better than ex jw, like holidays and such. why not look at what is more important(phil1:1o) the bible is clear you must enter the kingdom to have salvation (luke 18:18-26) and you must be born again to enter that kingdom(john 3:1-16) there is no salvation outside gods kingdom. jw how do you except to have salvation another way than what jesus said?
Explain to me, how is it that Jehovah's Witnesses beliefs on salvation differ from your beliefs? I'm assuming you're referring to the differences between the Great Crowd(Rev.7:9) and the Little Flock(Luke 12:32), but I could be wrong.
edit post : confused, you're probably right. I apologize for my insult and maybe I shouldn't participate on this thread, heck this forum.

Sighhhhh.....I swear there is no other group of people that scream more false alarms and predictions than the ex-JW community. "They're going to drop the name, Watchtower!" "They're gonna cease printing the Awake!" "The Internet is gonna bring the organization down!" Yep, the sky is falling, the sky is falling.

Emergency relief fund for the Philippines. How will it work.
by joe134cd ini was just thinking it will be interesting to see how the wts emergency relief fund will operate in the philippines.
ok it worked well with the storm in florida, with cashing in on the insurance cheques.
sorry to generalize, but americans have the disposable income, and the insurance polices for things like this - a thing the wtbts finds very attractive.

Could a JW apologist please provide evidence of this? Please let us know which flights have been chartered to which airports with what skilled disaster teams and what equipment has been deployed? How are their efforts being integrated with other agencies to deliver aid to the areas most affected? What sustainable benefit will be achieved?
I am working with a team that have been deployed to Tacloban. They could have been dispatched early last week ahead of the typhoon but chose to wait until afterwards to ensure they got to the worst affected areas. They accessed this via flights with other aid agencies (many share logistics). It's a complicated model of relief with charities specialising in many types of aid (i.e. Oxfam in drinking water and sanitation). It's not about the speed at which they arrived its about the intergration of their services to the overall relief that is of value. To do this one must work with the charities who are experts at this... Red Cross / UN etc
Any help is good but please don't assume the WBTS is on the forefront of helping. No JW can take pride in their organisation for providing disaster relief - they are experts at token reporting not providing disaster relief.

NOVEMBER 12, 2013 | JAPAN
Typhoon Wipha battered Japan’s eastern coast on October 16, 2013. The small island of Oshima, located some 75 miles (120 km) south of Tokyo, was among the hardest-hit areas. The storm’s torrential rains, which totaled some 33 inches (84 cm), caused rivers to overflow their banks and triggered massive mudslides, killing at least 35 people. The Japan branch office of Jehovah’s Witnesses confirmed that none of the members of the local congregation in Oshima were killed or injured. The home of one Witness family sustained roof damage, and fellow congregation members assisted with repairs. The local Witnesses also reached out to their neighbors, offering them aid and spiritual comfort.
